Photo Cubes

The first 3D models I made were geometric shapes – cubes, octohedrals, even a dodecahedron. Then I started putting my own photos on the patterns. All of the free patterns were found on the web.

These Joshua Tree National Park cubes stay in this bowl which sits in my family room anyone new coming to my house comments on them. They’re several years old now and the photos don’t appear to have faded at all even though they get the hot afternoon sun.

I found a “Magic Photo Cube” at our college bookstore and thought, “I could do that!” so I found a pattern on the web and put one together. I use clear packing tape for the hinges so it’s sturdy and fared well with the kids in the family as well as all the people who stop by my desk and play with it.

Contact me if you’re interested in a custom geometric and we can work out the details.
