I’ve lived in and visited lots of photogenic places…

I lived in the Smoky Mountains National Park for several years and it still feels like home even though I haven’t lived there since the late 1980’s. I can remember my first time driving there for a job. I rounded a bend and a vista opened up in front of me – ridge upon ridge of smoky blue mountains as far as the eye could see. And I thought, “I’m going to love it here.”
I remember visiting the Grand Canyon National Park in high school. I was speechless at the grandeur, but my father was ready to leave in 10 minutes. “It’s just a big hole in the ground,” he said. Years later I visited the park again with a friend and was awe-struck all over again at the shadows playing off the walls of the canyons and the birds flying below the South Rim.
I went on a vacation to Joshua Tree National Park and fell in love with the silence and the stark beauty of a landscape so different from what I knew growing up ib western Pennsylvania. It became a very spiritual retreat for me, and I must get back there soon!
Africa! During the summer of 2014 I went on a trip-of-a-lifetime with a tour group to South Africa, Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Many times I was moved to tears at the majesty of Mother Nature, and the opportunity to witness it first hand. Click here to see more photos of my Africa trip.
